@Adriano Gambarini

Our projects are a result of our actions, through which we evaluate impacts on conservation of neotropical carnivores.

Guided by eight different lines of action, we channel our projects to contemplate the different defended action fronts.

From scientific research to conflict resolutions, we act on several different levels to ensure the survival of carnivores and the ecosystems in the long term. In the end of the process, we evaluate our impact and present data to substantiate public policies for species conservation and their habitats.

Our Actions

Our defined actions help us achieve real and solid changes in conservation status of neotropical carnivores. Scientific studies are the basis for us to trace management strategies for species protection and their habitats. We act on qualification of people, environmental education and scientific publications to reduce conflicts between humans and animals. Our results also substantiate public policies interactions on behalf of biodiversity.

We achieve our mission through:

Development of scientific research to generate the information necessary for the conservation of species and their habitats

Strategies and management actions to ensure the long term survival of carnivores

Identification and protection of priority areas for carnivore conservation

Guidance in cases of livestock predation by mammalian carnivores

Training and capacity building of professionals specialized in the management and conservation of natural predators

Environmental education

Production and dissemination of educational materials

Support and development of public policies for the conservation of species and their habitats

Our projects

The focus of our projects is to understand and resolve conflicts between man and neotropical carnivores. We develop different projects on fauna conservation throughout all Brazilian biomes. You can research here our projects by filtering results based on the project´s status (in progress or finalized) or by the biome it is developed.

Impact

Understand the result of our actions through the years

We measure and evaluate the result of our actions since 1996, in order to comprehend positive impacts caused in the conservation scenario. Our statistics are important tools that substantiate decisions, so we can continue tracing an effective path that benefits biodiversity. Check out some statistics that illustrate our history and mission.

Veracel Celulose and IPC signed partnership in 2018 when, during the flora and fauna monitoring in the RPPN Estação Veracel (Veracel Station), a jaguar was registered, which had last occurred more than 20 years ago. Since then, the monitoring and conservation project of the jaguar elaborated in RPPN Estação Veracel and in the Pau Brazil National Park, seeks to evaluate the conditions of this forest fragment for the conservation of an animal this size. Until the present moment, the results have shown the occurrence of many mammal species, which reinforces the importance of these two forested areas for the Atlantic rainforest conservation in the region of Porto Seguro-BA.

CENAP works in association with IPC since 1996. The research results developed by IPC contribute to the elaboration of public policies in the conservation of carnivorous mammals from Brazilian fauna. CENAP is an important collaborator for us.
