Mustelids are animals that belong to the family Mustelidae, the biggest family in the order Carnivora. They include otters, weasels, badgers, and ferrets among others. Mustelids are small or medium-sized animals divided into 56 species throughout the world, except Australia and Antarctica. Their diet is primarily composed of meet, but some species can occasionally feed on vegetable matter. These animals can inhabit aquatic, marine and terrestrial environments.  Six species from this family occur in Brazil:
