Procyonids belong to family Procyonidae, including raccoons, coatis, kinkajous and olingos. They are small sized animals divided into 13 species spread throughout the Americas. Procyonids live in different landscapes, such as dense forests, flooded regions and even arid environments. These animals have a varied omnivorous diet, composed of fruits, small vertebrates and vegetable matter. In Brazil, 4 species occur from this family:
