Canids are animals that belong to the family Canidae, which includes dogs, wolves, jackals, coyotes and foxes. They are divided into 35 species spread throughout the world in all continents (except Antarctica). Generally, they hunt alone or in pairs, but some species can form collaborative groups. Despite being from the order Carnivora, canids present a diverse diet, which can include fruits and seeds. Six species from this family occur in Brazil:
